The 2020-2021 Academic Year is being ushered in with the birth of a new Secondary School in the Educational Family of the North West Region in Cameroon: the Firm Foundation College of Arts, Science and Technology. In a press chat with the proprietor, he said the new institution was poised to kickstart the 2020-2021 Academic Year.
According to the proprietor, Mr Ayeah Michael, this Comprehensive Secondary School will be coeducational in nature. Like some Secondary Schools already existing in the Region, the establishment will have both Day School Students and Boarding Students.
The idea Ayeah Michael said, was hatched by lecturers of the Bamenda Central University Institute who said they needed some sort of a Staff College on the University Campus. The college is as such located within the confines of the Central University Institute at Mile Six Nkwen in Bamenda.
Commenting on the readiness of the institution to welcome students for the New Academic Year, Ayeah Michael said the Boy's and Girl's dormitories had been completed.
He said infrastructurally the college was going to benefit from the fact that it is located within the confines of the Central University Campus. Science and Technical Students he said, were going to benefit the most from these facilities because of the presence of equipment in the Laboratories brought in for University students.
From the perspective of conduciveness and security of the environment, the educationist said Firm Foundation College of Arts Science and Technology was neither too close to the main road to be disturbed by noise from traffic nor too far to constitute a security risk.
With regards to measures to maintain Social Distancing and improved sanitation such as Bucket taps for hand washing, the school proprietor said extra school furniture had been brought in to make sure that Social Distancing was maintained. He said at the entrance to the school there was a compulsory hand washing point for students. Same will be the case at the entrance or doors of each classroom on the campus. The wearing of masks he said would be compulsory.
Furnished with what he described as the best tutors any college could get, Mr Ayeah Michael said Firm Foundation College of Arts Science and Technology was now set for the new Academic Year.
