Bachelor Degrees soon to be offered at Florence Nightingale Higher Institute of Health and Biomedical Sciences

Nkwain Joseph, the Director of Florence Nightingale Higher Institute of Health and Biomedical Sciences in Bamenda has intimated that the institution will soon be offering Bachelor Degree courses. He said the school was now poised to sign a Memorandum of Understanding MOU with the University of Bamenda. This move he said would make it possible for Bachelor Degrees to be offered by the institution. This move he further explained constituted part of the School's preparation in the build up to the 2020-2021 Academic Year. 
Among other things, Mr. Nkwain Joseph said that the institution had permissions from both the Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Higher Education. The approval from the Ministry of Public Health permits the Institution to train State Registered Nurses and Nursing Assistants. 
Students he said, enter the institution through a Competitive Entrance Examination and registration for this Examination Mr Nkwain Joseph said had just been launched. 
Talking about the school's infrastructure, the Director said the establishment had 9 Lecture Halls, a hall for practicals, a well equipped Laboratory, a well equipped library as well as an IT Room and many other facilities that make learning conducive. The Director further intimated that the institution is located in a very quiet part of Nkwen in Bamenda on the road to the Bamenda III Council. 
Considering that the 2020-2021 Academic Year was going to begin under very peculiar circumstances imposed by the COVID-19 Pandemic, Mr. Nkwain Joseph said measures had been put in place by the School Authorities to make sure that the chances of infection were almost completely wiped out. He pointed out that at the entrance to the school there was a huge Bucket Tap with water and soap for compulsory hand washing adding that infront of all the lecture halls there were Hand Sanitizers. 
In order to obey Social Distancing the school he said, had carried out certain adjustments. "We decided to buy extra tables and student's chairs so that we respect Social Distancing. We have put all these measures in place and we think that the measures are adequate for students to be able to study at Florence Nightingale Higher Institute of Health and Biomedical Sciences Bamenda."
The School Director indicated that the institution sent out HND candidates this year in Nursing an Laboratory Sciences. He equally emphasised on the fact that since its creation, the institution has always scored a hundred percent at the Higher National Diploma Examinations. "Last year we were ranked first in the country with the best results at the HND. There was a criteria set by the Ministry of Higher Education which included the number of successful students and quality of results. 
Talking about the school's preparedness for the 2020-2021 Academic year, Mr. Nkwain explained the situation in the following manner; "We are prepared for the new Academic Year. We've had to acquire Equipment and other pedagogic material which will be very conducive for learning. In the days ahead we are going to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Bamenda to train Bachelor students in Nursing, Laboratory Sciences, Midwifery, Nutrition and Dietetics and Healthcare Management."
Mr. Nkwain Joseph sent out an appeal to parents and other educational stakeholders calling on them to visit the school premises so as to ascertain the degree of  conduciveness of the environment. The staff he said had been in the field for long and had acquired experience over the years. He reiterated that the institution offered HND Nursing and HND Laboratory Sciences. Onto these were going to be added  Midwifery, Sanitary Technicians, Nutrition and Dietetics and Healthcare Management.
