The Limbe Regional Hospital remains one of the cleanest and one of the best organised Hospitals in the country alongside the Bamenda Regional Hospital. This is simply a reflection of the work that has so far been carried out by the hard working Hospital Administrators that have been appointed in the past decade to run these health outfits.
Permit us to begin with the Limbe Regional Hospital from the era under Dr. Bijingni Kuoh Pius. This retired Hospital Administrator took over an outfit and worked hard to create a good conducive working atmosphere that was quasi absent on his arrival. He laid the foundation for future development to be made possible at the Regional Hospital. Considering that Nation Building is like a Relay Race with each runner having the responsibility to make sure that he safely hands over his relay baton to the next runner, Dr. Denis Nsame lived up to the challenge when he took over as the Director of the Limbe Regional Hospital.
Aware of the fact that one must not only maintain the standards one meets but that continuity and improvement upon the statut quo is the only acceptable formula in Nation Building, Dr. Denis Nsame gave his time to his work unreservedly.
It is easy to notice when there are administrative lapses in a hospital. Get answers to these questions and you know that a hospital is well run. Is the clock work mechanism well oiled? Do the Nurses liaise mellifluously with the Doctors and the patients? Are the nurses polite and caring to patients? Does the neatness and general outward appearance of nurses and Doctors inspire confidence in the patients? Are public utility services like toilets available and in good shape? Is the environment as clean as a hospital should be? Are the emergency services truly functional?
The questions could continue but the point has already been made. The Limbe Regional Hospital increasingly had positive answers to the above evaluatory questions. This was and is still an indication that Dr. Denis Nsame moved towards the right direction when he took over as Director of the Regional Hospital.
The challenges were equally great when he took over from an old broom like Dr. Kingue Thompson Njie at the Bamenda Regional Hospital. If the above "evaluatory questions" were to be asked about the Bamenda Regional Hospital when Dr. Nsame arrived, most of the answers would have been in the positive making it even more challenging for the Hospital Administrator.
Dr. Denis Nsame Nforniwe stepped in with the same spirit like he did in Limbe and moved on. Standards had to be maintained and improved upon. Seven months down the line he is moving on.
The challenges facing the new occupant of the office of Director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital were further compounded by the out break of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Working in collaboration with the Regional Delegate of Public Health for the Northwest Region and the Governor of the Northwest Region as well as the entire Regional Health Family, Dr. Denis Nsame in formidable team work put up a stiff fight against the marauding COVID-19 Pandemic.
On reception of his merited award from Francis Ekongang Nzante, the National Coordinator and Chair Person of the CPA Organising Committee Dr. Denis Nsame said, "when you are doing work, it's only an onlooker who sees what you are doing especially when you do so with your heart and might...this means a lot to me. First, it is an encouragement to myself then to my team because these are the fruits of team work...the present context is very different with the Crisis and the COVID-19, the challenges are enormous and the demands daunting..amongst these, we try to stay neutral while attending to the health needs of the population."
