The Ministry of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises Social Economy and Handicraft has reached out to Small and Medium Sized Enterprises in the Northwest Region with support to make them financially stronger and the possibility to be provided with the much needed expert advice that is needed to succeed in their various enterprises. This event took place on Thursday November 9 within the confines of the Regional Delegation of the Ministry at Up Station in Bamenda.

This support came through Cheque Service Mechanisms providing partial or total subvention to 14 services declared legible to benefit from it. Out of these 14 services, three of them were women. Eight Consultants in the domain, one of them, a woman also received accreditations from the ministry. These accreditations were accorded after two weeks of training in Bafoussam and one week in Bamenda. After receiving these accreditations, they became Accredited Management Centers in the Northwest pool. The beneficiaries from the Cheque Mechanism were called upon to collaborate with these accredited management centers.

Joseph Nji, Head of Economic and Cultural Affairs at the Governor’s Office said he was thankful to the Government of Cameroon for thinking about entrepreneurs in the North West Region. “Eight consultants were selected during this ceremony and fourteen small and medium sized enterprises received their cheques. This is a serious initiative that the Government is carrying out to promote small and medium sized enterprises in our Region. My advice to beneficiaries is that they should use what the Government has given them judiciously.”
Joseph Tchana, National Coordinator of the Support Programme for Agricultural and Agri- Food Small and medium Sized Enterprises at the Ministry on his part said “this comes within the context of government support to small and medium sized enterprises and this comes through the French Development Agency FDA. The aim is to make sure that enterprises have access to financing and to expert counseling from accredited consultants. With this support they will be able to pay these consultants. The cheques presented today represent 90% contribution from the government and 10% from the entrepreneurs themselves which permits them to have access to consultancy and training programmes.”
