Section
President decries drop in Nkor Council Public Investment Budget
By F. Ekongang Nzante Lenjo
Nformi Alfred Forgwei Mbeng,
General Manager of Chantier Naval et
Industries and Section President of CPDM Bui 5 has decried the drop in the Public
Investment Budget of the Nkor Council in the Noni Sub Division from about FCFA
500 Million to less than 100 Million under the present SDF team that is running
the affairs of the council. This drop in the amount of money from the public
treasury towards projects in the Noni Sub Division was one of the worse things
in the history of the council. He was speaking on Sunday November 5 during the
CPDM Bui 5 Joint Section Conference at the Community Hall in Nkor, Noni.

The Section President among
other things said following the recent assessment of councils by PNDP, the Nkor
Council occupied the 31st position out of 34 Councils that make up
the North West Region. Council roads he said had deteriorated and holiday jobs
hitherto given to youths had been scrapped. He further said it was time for the
management of the council to be taken away from the SDF by the ruling Cameroon
Peoples Democratic Movement, CPDM.
He said when CPDM took over the
reins of the council in 2007 the Public Investment budget was less than FCFA
20 million at the time but was raised to FCFA 500 millions. These efforts he
emphasised have been rendered useless by the present team in the council which
has brought the Public Investment Budget down to less than a hundred Millions FCFA.
The Joint Section Conference
which brought together all the 17 Sub sections that make up Bui 5 Section was
focused on preparing the party for the various elective exercises that are
supposed to take place in 2018. Nformi Alfred Forgwei reminded the throngs of
people who gathered for the event that 2018 was possibly going to have four
elections with the CPDM participating in all of them.
Considering the urgency of the
situation, the Sub Section President said “it is imperative to have strategic
preparation especially at the base. We should draw inspiration from political
mutations like the case in France.” He prescribed a plan of action structured
in the following manner;
Ndyun Doris Berri, WCPDM Section President |
The success of all these he said would be guaranteed by regular physical presence, lots of personal sacrifices, more personal contacts than rallies and very little time in the office.
The WCPDM Section President for
Bui 5, Ndyun Doris Berri presented a paper titled “The CPDM yesterday, today
and tomorrow”. The aim of the presentation was to mobilize the base in view of
upcoming events. The quintessence of this paper was the fact that the base
constitutes the bed rock of the party. She called on militants during her
presentation to “preserve the wins of the party and gain more grounds.” She
also called on militants not to rely only on elites and the Section President
for fund raising and emphasised on the need to develop fund raising plans.

Nfinyo Mabu on his part read
the circular from the Secretary General of the Central Committee to the heads
of Central Committee Regional and Divisional Permanent Delegations, CPDM, YCPDM
and WCPDM Section Presidents and militants. The theme of this paper was
“Together let us contribute towards strengthening the “Cameroonian spirit” for
the consolidation of National Unity and integrity and peace.”
The Divisional Officer for Noni
Sub Division, Martin Ngwa Manjong who breezed in during the session from an
occasion at the Oku Palace patronized by P.M. Philemon Yang called on militants
not to be confused by events presently going on in the two English Speaking
Regions but to stay focused and move on believing in their party. He however
acknowledged that he was D.O. for everybody and not for a particular political
party. “I speak politics today just like I can speak anywhere else that I am
invited. I say CPDM is doing things correctly though I am not declaring that I
am a militant.”
