Cameroonians called to stop the carnage and identify enemy

Calls for Cameroon to stop the carnage and go to the dialogue table have continuously increased. The most recent appeal calling on Cameroonians to stop fighting and killing each other and instead make an effort to identify the true enemy came from the Lord Mayor of Kumbo, Njong Donatus Fonyuy. He was speaking on Wednesday January 31, 2018 at Kikaikilaki within the Kumbo Municipality during a thanks giving and fund raising event organised by the family of His Eminence Cardinal Christian Tumi at Tsenla in Kikaikilaki.

Commenting immediately after a thanksgiving mass that was said by His Eminence Christian Cardinal Tumi, Mayor Njong Donatus Fonyuy said as the leader of people and of a community he had observed that everything was going extreme at both ends. “The population is extreme and the forces of Law and Order are extremists. Cameroonians are fighting among themselves and I am unable to identify the enemy. The only prayer and advice is that the two sides should exercise restrain so that we can sit down like children with one destiny and of one origin and talk. It is no longer the Cameroon that we used to know. It now looks like a completely different society. It is very disheartening and to be very honest with you, one will be unable to point out the aggressor because you find attacks and counter attacks from every angle. We don’t know the direction towards which we are going to. I just want to appeal that both sides should exercise restraint, put down their anger and their weapons and come together and talk like children of one family.”

On a brighter note he said he was indeed very elated by the fact that despite all, the Ngamantse family could still carve out time for a thanksgiving mass. Hear him. “It was a thanksgiving mass organised by Shufai Tsengla, the head of the Ngamantse Family to thank God for everything that took place here last year and to assemble the sons and daughters for their family meeting and to be able to mobilize resources to continue with the massive development project taking place at Tsengla. We could not stay behind and as the Mayor of the town I had to come to encourage them by participating and giving my own support financially and morally. I think the Ngamantse family is very lucky to have Shufai Tsengla as their leader. He is a dynamic and very likeable person. An added quality was the fact that His Eminence Cardinal Christian Tumi left Douala to personally preside at the Holy Mass. It is a sign that the Cardinal supports the development of Kikaikilaki.”

The satisfied and elated family Head; Shufai Tsenla Kikaikilaki said “as the Ngamantse family and as NGAMCUDA, we decided that as we are having a project in the compound we will be having this annual thanksgiving to make sure that the family unites and thanks God for what is happening and also raise funds so that together we can build this compound. This will serve as a uniting factor for the Ngamantse people and the unity of the Nso Land. I firstly want to thank God for what he is doing in my life as head of this family and this community. I will not be telling the truth if I say that my people are not showing me love. I will equally be untruthful if I say I do not feel comfortable being the leader of these people. What I see God doing through them despite the hard times that we are passing through is marvelous. The socio-political crises that we are passing through and the difficulties that families have at the moment make me to say that something marvelous is happening at Tsenla.”

The family head acknowledged that his people had suffered from lack of counseling in the past but that through him and the person he succeeded, the Ngamantse people had greatly improved. “This family” he said “is a very strong hand of the Paramount Fon of Nso. We want to think that as history holds as the elder brother to the Royal family, we will respect that position because our ancestors have never gone out of that position. Despite what people may say to disturb our heads, the Ngamantse family stands strong on that position.”

“Cameroon’s problems will be solved if Musonge Commission fulfills its mandate” -Peter Ngufor: CPDM Baron

Peter Ngufor:CEO Farmers House
Ngufor Peter, CPDM Baron and Chief Executive Officer of Farmer’s House, one of Cameroon’s leading suppliers of farmers’ inputs has stated that the Musonge Commission created by President Paul Biya was a lofty venture but regretted that the body was not empowered to fully carry out its duties. He said if the Musonge Commission was allowed to fulfill its mandate then the problems of Cameroon would have been completely solved. He spoke to this journalist recently at his Bamenda residence in reaction to the Head of State’s End of year speech.
Ngufor Peter unequivocally expressed himself in the following manner; “I believed in that commission and I expected it to have gone into the field to touch on the problems of the nation not only in the two Anglophone Regions but should have gone all over the country to find out problems disturbing the country because we are not the only ones having problems. The other Regions have problems peculiar to them. We thought that one year after its creation, the commission should have been coming out with concrete results. Let the Musonge Commission be given a chance. Let them work and let them fulfill their mandate and all the problems will be solved.”
Quizzed on the Head of State’s declaration that dialogue was already going on, Ngufor Peter said “it is true that certain things have been done but the solutions to the teachers’ and lawyers’ problems do not provide a solution to the Anglophone problem. They should go a little bit further and that commission should have sorted out these problems and provided lasting solutions to them.”

Commenting generally on the Head of States Speech at the end of the year, he said “it was quite elaborate and interesting but I think he should have hammered a little bit more on the commission he created; that’s the Musonge Commission. I think he should have gone to the extent of solidifying that commission by causing it to be inscribed in the constitution of Cameroon. I don’t know why he did not do that. It’s exactly one year old and they have not been to the field. All they have done is go to some offices in Yaounde to find out whether both English and French are spoken there. That’s not the reason why the commission was created. Till today that commission remains very important and should have resolved that problem of dialogue”.
I wish the Head of State a very happy and prosperous New Year and his entire family. I equally wish a happy and prosperous year to my farmers because supply inputs to farmers and I am happy that 2017 was a bumper year for us and I think they are all happy and I wish them a successful 2018.

Transformation of Tuba Municipality into a city well on course

Lord Mayor of the Tubah Municipality, Tanjong Meshongong Martin has declared that the transformation of Tubah into a modern city which was one of his main objectives when he became mayor is well on course.

Lord Mayor Tanjong Martin of Tubah
He said immediately he was sworn in as mayor he started opening up roads which was an unavoidable first step towards realizing this dream of transforming his municipality from a big village to a modern city. He was speaking in an interview he granted Edev Newspaper recently in his Bambili home.
He however concedes that with the advent of Ghost Towns, it was very difficult to realise many of his projects. “I feared when the year began but I ended up realizing 90% of my ear marked projects. As I stand here, I am proud that my council does not owe salaries to its workers. In the development of my municipality much has been done. If you move round my municipality you will notice that there are no plastic papers around. Last summer holidays I recruited 125 students who brought 550 Kilograms of plastic paper bags. That’s what we are using now and converting into bricks for building.”
He further states that his plans for 2017 were covered and that together with his councilors they had noted that the roads they started bulldozing in 2014 were getting old. This is the reason why one of his aims in 2018 will be to put these roads back in their original state.
The ambitions of Mayor Tanjong Martin are further brought forth in the following declarations. “In order to transform Tubah from a Sub Division to a modern city like I promised to do, there are some things that must be done. When I took over on the 29th of November 2013, before the 15th of December I was already dis-enclaving. I had to open roads in the whole municipality not only in Bambili. With the presence of the University, this was needed to open up the area to facilitate movement in Bambili. This past year we constructed classrooms and provided electricity to about a third of the municipality. We did it in Kejomkeku, Kejomketungo, Bambili and Bambui though that of Bambili is not entirely concluded. We keep on subsidizing water organisations like that of Bambui and providing materials like pipes and other accessories that help in the continuous provision of water. My main objective for 2018 is that all roads will be back to normal.”
Mayor Tanjong Martin also extended 2018 Special New Year wishes to the staff of the Tubah Council, the administrators of Tuba, his own close collaborators, his Deputy Mayors, municipal treasurer and his family which he said was always there to support him in all his endeavors.

Bamenda III Mayor predicts positive 2018 and declares preparedness for elections

The Lord Mayor of the Bamenda III Municipality, Fongu Cletus has predicted a positive 2018 and declared preparedness of the council and the Social Democratic Front for the 2018 elections. He made this disclosure recently in a press briefing in Bambili.
Lord Mayor Fongu Cletus

Taking a retrospective look at 2017 he said “I think 2017 was a very interesting year as far as the Bamenda III Council is concerned even though a number of challenges came up. A lot was done this year and we have been able to realise some road projects within the municipality and provide water to the population. We have equally been able to assist some areas in the provision of electricity and other social projects. We have equally built bridges, culverts, classrooms and provided assistance to people with special needs.
The Lord Mayor said these projects were realised thanks to the commitment of the municipal councilors, the population and stakeholders in the process of development. He said they would have loved to achieve more but due to the socio political crises affecting certain Regions of the country they could not do more. “These crises have affected us adversely and this is because the population during this period did not pay its taxes” he said.
Harping on the elective exercises that will dominate 2018 Fongu Cletus said “the party to which I belong, the Social Democratic Front is always prepared for elections. Even if the Head of State calls for elections today we will be ready. I am seizing this opportunity to wish the National Chairman of the Social Democratic Front His Excellency Ni John Ndi, the Seniour Divisional Officer for Mezam, the Divisional Officer for Bamenda III, His Royal Highness the Fon of Nkwen and all my collaborators a prosperous 2018.”
