SDF MP Fusi Namukong makes public Micro Project Grants donated to Tubah

The MP for the Bafut-Tubah Constituency in the Northwest Region of Cameroon Honourable Fusi Namukong has made known Micro Project Grants donated to one part of his constituency. This disclosure was made known recently in a press chat with Edev News.

The MP on this occasion made known that he had from 2013 to 2018 donated micro grant projects to the Tubah Sub Division and that these initiatives were still going on. He made known that for the past five years he had been visiting the Sub Division yearly in the company of the party Executive Committee and his Alternate Anembom Beatrice Mouju as the Micro Project Grant Chairperson. The MP said Micro Grants donated to Bafut were going to be made known soon.

He said in Bambui Maize seeds had been given to farming populations, Fifty bags of Cement for constructions at Government High School Bambui and Government Technical College Bambui respectively. In the same vein he said support worth CFA 400.000 had been given for the construction of the Fon’s Palace and support worth CFA 500.000 given for the extension of electricity to Bambui. Support the MP said had also been given for the extension of electricity to Finge village and for the supply of chairs to the Baforkum Palace.

In Bambili he said maize seeds had been equally donated to farmers. Other donations in Bambili have included extension of electricity, 100 bags of cement for the construction of the Fon’s Palace, construction of the bridge to GTC Bambili and support to student’s and youth activities.

Meantime, in the Kedjom Ketingu village maize seeds were also donated to farmers, cement for construction works at Government Technical High School GTHS and Government Bilingual Secondary School GBSS Sabga, zinc for roofing at Government Secondary School GSS Down Village and Arabic School Sabga. Water Extension Works were done in the various quarters while extension of electricity reached GHS Kedjom Ketingu. Support was also extended to women’s groups.

In Kedjom Keku, Electricity extension works were carried out to Lih Quarter and Mbamu Ndong Quarter. While maize seeds were donated to farming populations, a Diesel Corn Grinding Mill was supplied at Wuoh Mbaya Quarter. Roofing sheets have been provided for the Palace while support was given to the handicapped population of New Hope Village, women’s activities and Youth Football Competitions. These micro projects grants it should be known exclude internal SDF Party support.

Good Governance Will Be Restored In Africa, - President, International Youth Parliament

Honourable Promise Nwadigos, President of the International Youth Parliament has reassured youths that Good Governance will be restored in Africa. He said the Youth Will Take The Lead Through IYP Leadership Intervention.

The President Of  The International Youth Parliment IYP Hon. Engr Promise Anurika Nwadigos, in his Leadership speech recently at Houdegbe North American University Benin Republic, once again promise young Africans that the journey to leadership Eldorado has began in earnest through the International Youth Parliament.

Nwadigos, said that IYP  has started a journey of making sure the African youth take the long overdue Leadership positions that have been hijacked by our fathers, and in his speech promised that his tenure as the president will revive the African Leadership system by making sure our young intellectuals see the need to remain and make use of the natural resources in our continent.

Nwadigos made this declaration while addressing African students at Houdegbe North American University Pekadis Benin Republic. He appealed that youth should not run out of the continent but should remain focused diligent in all they do as the future is bright with the coming of IYP.

According to him, “Wickedness, lack Of Jobs, hatred from our leaders, abuse on our girls, insecurity, hunger and not giving space for young intellectuals in Leadership” were some of the factors militating against the needed progress of Africa and Africans, “hence during my tenure as the IYP president, I will focus my attention on bringing young Africans out of the hands of old wicked leaders to enable our youth have a space in today's leadership without fear of any kind.”

Nwadigos  also reminded many Nigerian youths in that country to  disagree with and disregard those who said that the youths of Nigeria are lazy, and only needed free money.

He said: “From available records, Nigerian youths have excelled in sports, entitlement industry, among others and I wondered why somebody would said that the Nigerian and most African youths are lazy”

“The International Youth Parliament, very soon will restructure African young people’s mindset by empowering the youths, eradicating hunger, poverty and above all

Give space for them to take over in African Leadership.”

In most African countries young people with great degree's work for peanut  “most of them can’t even afford to live in  the city not minding their tireless efforts of working six to six while foreigners without any form of  degree supervise and earn big working few hours per day, thereby over stretching their life for 0 cent.

He therefore called on the youth not to lose faith in Africa for it is us that will bring it to the   standard of admiration, and that IYP has already started.

He consequently promised that IYP from all over Africa would nominate a credible aspiring leaders that will be voted in by the general assembly and must be an intellectual  that has what it takes to turn things  around for the  benefit of the all African youth in our continent.

Open letter to H.E Paul Biya, newly re-elected President of Cameroon

Your Excellency,

I followed your inaugural address on the 6 November 2018 with keen attention and with particular focus on your plan to end the raging war in the North West Region and South West Region. 

Your Excellency, permit me to recall that the conflict in the North West Region and South West Region is the outcome of long standing acrimony within the Anglophones over the abrogation of the two states federation in 1972 and the subsequent marginalization and assimilation of Anglophones. The strike action of lawyers and teachers that began in 2016 merely constituted a milestone in Anglophone resistance to marginalization and subjugation. This explains why the sectoral demands of the lawyers and teachers quickly morphed into a political, economic, social and humanitarian crisis that has been escalating by the day.

As a consequence of the conflict, it is estimated that over 1000 lives have been lost, hundreds of thousands internally displaced, over 30 000 refugees, villages torched, over 1000 persons incarcerated, disruptive school attendance, livelihoods destroyed as a consequence of the breakdown of law and order in most almost all the towns and villages of these regions. 

In the light of the preceding, a call to lay down arms will yield fruit if it is accompanied by a comprehensive peace plan that addresses the root causes of the conflict with a view to providing a lasting solution to grievances that span decades.

This conflict is a political conflict requiring a political settlement and not the use of force which so far has proven to be counter-productive. The result of the military option has actually been an escalation of the conflict. 

It therefore behooves Your Excellency to review your plan for the resolution of the conflict in the North West Region and South West Region and seriously consider seeking a lasting political solution to the conflict as soon as possible.

The Arrest of Mimi Mefo: Yet another symbol of arbitrary decisions and repression in Cameroon

 Mimi Mefo, a journalist working for the Equinoxe media group, was jailed in Douala Central Prison on Wednesday, November 07, 2018.

 According to the first information available to us, she has been charged on three counts:

 1. Propagation of false news.

 2. Cybercrime.

 3. Attack on state security.

The charge of undermining the State's security would be the reason why her case has now been taken over by a procedure under military jurisdiction.

 Faced with this umpteenth attack on freedom of the press and this crude intimidation, Stand Up For Cameroon demands the immediate release of Mimi Mefo.

 And for good reason. Mimi Mefo is accused of relaying in the conditional, like many other Cameroonians, a series of news stories produced by a news agency, approved by the authorities of Cameroon.

 As much as she progressively reported information, regularly updated by different sources, she did not fail to relay information from official government sources on the same subject. She has obviously done her job as a journalist on a serious situation, in a serious manner and in an equally serious context. A situation in which the silence of the journalists is absolutely not an option.

 If, in addition, we take into account the fact that she is not the only one to have disseminated this information, it becomes difficult to understand the summons, the indictment and the incarceration which Mimi Mefo is subject to today.

 For these reasons, Stand Up For Cameroon is keen to condemn with the utmost energy this repressive government campaign which has intensified in recent weeks towards Cameroonian citizens of all horizons.

 Stand Up For Cameroon also denounces the intimidation and incarceration in violation of the fundamental rights and freedoms of several other journalists and activists.

 Particularly violent repression in the North West and South West regions

 Since the start of the Anglophone crisis in particular, there have been dozens of journalists harassed and hundreds of citizens unjustly detained.

 At the moment, as we speak, many citizens of the North West and South West regions are subject to similar or even more serious violations.

  This makes the arrest of Mimi Mefo, Anglophone journalist, particularly engaged in providing regular information on the various developments in the North West and South West regions, a very sensitive case.

This arrest is likely to fuel the discourse of supporters of separation and weaken the camp of moderates, supporters of a peaceful resolution through a real national dialogue in the framework of a united Cameroonian state.

 Old abuses and violations that are spreading

 These abuses and violations of fundamental rights and freedoms have also been observed in the fight against Boko Haram with the crimes that have been brought to light.

 The Cameroonian Government is clearly on a campaign of intimidation. They want to instill fear and self-censorship in the Cameroonian society. It will succeed if we keep quiet and let go.

 It's time to show our commitment to our freedoms! This is the moment to say that we are not afraid and that they will not succeed in suppressing our freedom to speak! This is the moment to show our solidarity with our brothers and sisters today deprived of their rights and fundamental freedoms!

 Stand Up For Cameroon congratulates those who are already resisting this oppressive surge. We call on other Cameroonians to stand with Mimi Mefo and other citizens incarcerated to demand their release and respect for their rights.

 Together, united and united, we will win!
