New Age Oil Company Donates FCFA 25 Millions worth of Equipments to the Limbe Regional Hospital

The New African Global Energy Company with acronym "New Age" has donated FCFA 25 Millions worth of Anti COVID-19 Equipment to the Limbe Regional Hospital. The equipments were handed over to the Director of the Limbe Regional Hospital, Dr Kinge Thompson Njie on Friday September 11 by Diane Bakehe, the Human Resource and Management Officer of the Oil Company within the confines of the premises of the Regional Hospital.

While handing over the equipments, Diane Bakehe who represented Mr Bruno De Vinck, the Director of New Age Oil Company noted that the Limbe Regional Hospital despite its 75 years of age still looked very clean. She said the African Global Energy Company had branches in London, China, amongst others. All these branches she said contributed to the equipments that were being handed over to the Limbe Regional Hospital. She said Corporate Social Responsibility has always been taken very seriously by New Age Oil Company. To butress her point, she mentioned aid that had been provided by the company to some Educational Establishments like Government Primary School Debunscha and Government Primary School Idenau Group 2 and 3. She said the company was now shifting it's attention to the Health Sector.

The Limbe Regional Hospital she said, was just one among other hospitals earmarked to benefit from the company's 2020 Corporate Social Responsibility package.

On reception of the equipments, Dr Kinge Thompson Njie, Director of the Limbe Regional Hospital said the donation was timely considering the fact that the hospital had been facing some challenges in tackling COVID-19 cases due to the absence of certain equipments. He said the hospital had registered 265 comfirmed cases adding that the last five cases were comfirmed within 72 hours prior to the reception of the equipments. 10 patients he said had been lost to COVID-19 mostly due to lack of oxygen supply. The supply of the new equipment he said would certainly take care of this problem since most of the deaths occurred as a result of lack of intensive care. He said the hospital staff felt strengthened by the equipment and promised to make good use of it.

Some Administrative authorities present appealed to the population to have confidence in the expertise of the staff of the hospital and called on them to observe barrier measures and to do the COVID-19 screening test. Meantime the City Mayor to the Limbe City Council who was represented congratulated Dr Kinge Thompson Njie for his Reception of the Cameroon Performance Awards CPA 2020 adding that he was an example for the younger generation to emulate.

On behalf of the Regional Delegate for Public Health in the Southwest Region, Mr Njie Esasa expressed gratitude for the gesture by New Age Oil Company and said it was timely because of the challenges being faced coupled with the upcoming 2021 African Nations Championships CHAN slated to take place in Cameroon with Limbe hosting one of the groups. He further said the personnel of the Limbe Regional Hospital was well trained and would make good use of the equipment. The equipment he said would go a long way to improve upon the health status of the Southwest population as a whole and called on other companies to emulate the example of New Age Oil Company.

The Divisional Officer for Limbe I Acha Nkwenty Mofor equally called on others to join in strengthening the Limbe Regional Hospital and reminded the population that COVID-19 truly existed and that barrier measures should continuously be respected.
