NODECA poised to flush out pepetrators of terror in Noni Subdivision

 In a strongly worded communiqué from the Noni Development and Cultural Association NODECA, signed by its National President Senator/Barrister Kinyang George, Noni people both at home and out have been invited to exercise their rights of self defence in a bid to rid the land of “untold wave of violence, destruction and summary executions being carried out by some groups in Noni.” The Noni Subdivision is located in Bui Division in the Northwest Region. This release runs as follows;

“We, the Noni Development and Cultural Association- NODECA (Nshíí Nooné) at home and abroad use this opportunity to strongly condemn the recurrent untold wave of violence, destruction and summary executions being carried out by some armed groups in our hospitable land.

Our land, people, culture and traditions have always been clothed with the garments of peace, love, togetherness and development but strange intoxications and persons from other areas have infilterated our land, and with the use of their weapons and destructive doctrines coerced our humble non-belligerent people into a system of hate, fear, disunity, unproductivity, loss of harmony, destruction and loss of lives. These brutal killings include amongst many others; that of our young athletic flame-bearer and trainer of mount Cameroon race Champions: Mr. Tata Eric. All these are further worsened by the non circulation of cars in and out of the Noni sub Division for almost a year thus causing undue suffering and hardship to a peasant population, and increase of deaths of innocent sick children, pregnant women, the old, and others who can't get to the hospital because of road blocks and harassment of transporters.

Pursuant to the recent summary executions of these past weeks (which are not by the Cameroon Defence Forces) and the most recent being in Kochi-Nkor, we the Noni people say enough is enough. We ask for all these exactions on the population to stop with immediate effect, failure of which we have undertaken to employ every means to lawfully defend ourselves from these evil forces, and shall go to every end to restore the emblematic peace and happiness that is characteristic to us. We are ready to aggressively defend ourselves from a situation we never invited.

We therefore call on all Nonians at home and out to courageously exercise their right of self defence and to purge our land of these denizens and their fellow Noni accomplices. We now have all your names and know your families.”

Shortly after the above release, Senator Kinyang George further announced the holding of a Noni General Assembly to discuss security and development issues of the Noni Subdivision. This move the National President explained comes after overwhelming pressure from Noni sons and daughters. As a result, an organizing committee in the build up to this General Assembly has been named. This committee is made up of Ms. Nforya Immaculate, BarristTamfu Dimla, Mr. Nsabinla Mathias, Mr. Mabu Nfinyo and Shey Samali Vincent. They are charged with getting a venue and date for the meeting, mobilizing funds for logistics, entertainment, security, lodging and obtention of administrative permission for the holding of the General Assembly.
This move has been dominantly acclaimed as the best possible step towards making sure that things return to normal in Noni Subdivision.

Advocacy and story telling Conference:

Female victims of Crises in Cameroon narrate horrible personal Experiences

Female victims of the crises in Cameroon from Kumba, Bamenda, Esuh, Ndop, Wum, Kwa Kwa in Meme Division, Buea and Kolofata in the North of the Cameroon have narrated their sordid personal experiences in the crises going on in the North West and South West Regions as well as in the northern segment of the country.
This took place during the Advocacy and story telling Conference of Women in the Crises Regions on Non-violence Communication and peace building organised by Mother of Hope Cameroon MOHCAM in partnership with the Canadian High Commission on Tuesday January 29 at Hotel Franco in Yaounde. All the victims concerned said it was time for Cameroonians to put war behind them and look for ways to rebuild peace in these parts of the country.

Adah Mbah Muyang
Speaking during the conference, Adah Mbah Muyang, the Executive Director of MOHCAM said her organisation had already trained 200 hundred mediators in four council areas. This peace building initiative she said was hatched against a backdrop of violence, kidnappings, rapes, killings among others. She said, thanks to the support of the Canadian High Commission in Cameroon MOHCAM was doing everything possible to change the narrative by adding the voice of the woman in the peace building process in Cameroon.
One of the high points of the conference was a presentation by Limen Gladys Foncham on the impacts of the crises on Women and Children. Among many other things, she mentioned the rise in maternal and infant mortality, the increased gender based violence and the increased stress on woman managing large numbers of children.
The apotheosis of the conference however was the victims’ story telling session. One of the victims from Widikum who requested anonymity lost 5 children who were all shot dead in Bali. He wasn’t even allowed to collect his children and was asked to pay 450.000 FCFA to be able to collect his kids for burial. Meantime another lady from Kwa Kwa in Meme Division recounted how her house and business center had been burnt to ashes. Presently she is a high blood patient saddled with a sick mother and was forced by circumstances to stay in the bush for eight months.
Another heartrending story was from a young girl whose names we withhold who lost 13 family members to the crises. These people among others include her parents, brother and pregnant wife, paternal uncle and two nieces. Meantime, she said she was still searching for the missing children of her brother.
The heartrending stories were aplenty but with common characteristics. A lot of suffering, despair and the sheer vulnerabity of the women and children was shocking. All of them wanted means of sustainability and peace in Cameroon. They were tired of continuous gun shots and the disastrous consequences that it was having on their lives.
The occasion was graced by the presence of the representative from the US Embassy and the Political Adviser at the Canadian High Commission partner of MOHCAM.

Mother of Hope Cameroon organises maiden 2019 Workshop

Mother of Hope Cameroon known by the acronym MOHCAM on Friday January 4, 2019, organized her very first workshop for the New Year. This Workshop was the second edition of the Inclusive Girls Empowerment Leadership and Skilled Workshop. It took place at the Mansfield Plaza Hotel, Bamenda in the North West Region.

This program was aimed at empowering young girls ranging from the ages of 12- 24. It was further motivated by the numerous challenges young girls have been facing in the crises presently plaguing the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon.

Highlights of the workshop included sensitization of the girls on Personal Body Hygiene, Puberty and Menstruation and the Qualities of a Good Leader.

As Girl Change leaders, most of these presentations were done by their peers in a bid to instill a sense of leadership and responsibility in them. According to some of the workshop participants, the program was interesting since the girls had time to catch some fun while getting very insightful information and knowledge.

This was all in a bid to motivate and encourage these young girls to stay focused on their dreams and ambitions and to drill them on how to handle the challenges they are facing which are particular to their age group.

Adah Mbah Muyang, the head of this organisation seized the opportunity to thank the MOHCAM team, its volunteers and all those who have been supporting them in their activities and initiatives.

Cameroon Peoples Party NEW YEAR ADDRESS TO THE NATION

Fellow Cameroonians,

On this first day of the year, the Cameroon People’s Party wishes you an engaging and powerful 2019.

This is the year to step into, to embrace and to exercise our power as a people. We must do so individually, we must do so collectively, we must do so as a nation to define and design a different future for ourselves.
2018 was both devastating and galvanizing for our country.

We were devasted:

To know for sure, what many had already drawn attention to. Members of our army, in our name were committing atrocities in the Extreme North even as they fought Boko Haram.  The cold-blooded murders carried out in Achigachiya and Zelevet including that of women and their children, recorded live on video, remain etched on our national conscience.

To discover the degree of atrocities committed in the North West and South West regions, by our army, in our name.  Villages burnt, random killings, hundreds of arrests and a permanent state of intimidation of the population. Atrocities so numerous and at such scale that our minds struggle to comprehend and our hearts remain shattered in a thousand different ways.

To realize that those who were pushed to take up arms, due to the Biya Regime’s violent responses to their non-violent demands for Anglophone rights; have themselves become oppressors.  Kidnapping, extortion, summary executions have also become their modus operandi. The population attacked on both sides by two forces whose declared missions are to protect it.

To understand that our electoral system has been entirely hijacked by the Biya Regime and that it is not an instrument for democracy, but rather one that ensures the reign of the ruling party and its oppression over Cameroonians.

To become cognizant of the depth and degree of thievery and corruption which our collective resources as a people are subject to, even in the face of international stakes such as the organization of the African Cup of Nations.

To realize that with regard to all of the above from crimes of theft to those of murder, there is total and complete impunity for the perpetrators. Only we, the people, pay the price.

Indeed, Cameroonians were devastated in 2018.
However, we were also galvanized.

Galvanized as groups stood up to demand justice for the internally displaced, the refugees and the general population of the North West and South West.

Galvanized by those who dared to stand up, speak out and take action to demand change for our country.

Galvanized as crowds came out to demonstrate clearly during the presidential election that what Cameroonians want is change, change and unquestionably change. Our future must go in a completely different direction from our past.

Galvanized as we mobilized together across the country and across the globe to demand freedom for those arrested in the election aftermath.  We caught a glimpse, a hint, of the power that is ours.

Fellow Cameroonians,

We are faced with extremely urgent challenges for our country.

Putting an end to the violence in the North West and South West, but also the Extreme North, North, Adamawa and Eastern regions of our country.

Beginning the dialogue to redefine our identity as a country and ensure that every single Cameroonian has equal rights and equal access to the resources of our nation.

Building a vision for the future of our country which ensures, justice, peace and access to opportunities for every Cameroonian and in every corner of Cameroon.

Beginning the reform of our institutions so that we can put an end to the hemorrhaging of our resources and institute the rules and regulations that will enable us as a nation to select leaders that implement our vision of society and are accountable to us for their actions.

With every passing twenty-four hours during which these fundamental challenges are not addressed, Cameroonians die. Cameroonians continue to be deprived of their physical freedom as they sit in jail for crimes they did not commit.  Cameroonians lose their livelihoods, their homes and their dignity.

With every passing twenty-four hours during which these fundamental challenges are not addressed, we slip deeper into a civil war that will be difficult to reverse. We lose more and more of our dignity and humanity as a people.  We stand increasingly in danger of losing our country entirely.

On this 1st of January 2019, certain truths are evident.

1 These challenges cannot be addressed by the Biya Regime and we cannot address them as long as the regime is in power. We must bring its reign to an end.

2 We are the ones we are waiting for. No one else has the responsibility or the capacity to change the course of our future as a nation. It is up to us.

3 The longer we wait and hesitate to commit and take action, the more complex and difficult the challenges become.  We are on a countdown. Winning it means taking action now.

At the Cameroon People’s Party, we have committed ourselves as a party and we have joined others in the platform of Stand Up For Cameroon to doing everything within our power to bring an end to the Biya Regime and to initiate Political Transition for our country. We commit to do so using strategies and tactics of non-violence.

Our message to you on this first day of 2019 is step into your power and join us.

Step into your power and take a personal commitment to do what you need to do daily, weekly, monthly and until we achieve our goals together.

Step into your power and face the fear of speaking and acting openly against oppression and for Political Transition.  We either act or we will perish.  We have buried thousands as we hesitate. For our life and theirs, let us act.

Step into your power and join others. Join Stand Up For Cameroon and/or join the CPP. It is individual commitment and collective action that will move our country forward.

Step into your power and act without violence and without hesitation.  The power is in non-violence, as it is the future we wish to build.

Our message to you on this January 1, 2019 is step into your power and act. NOW!

Kah Walla
National President
