Cameroonians called to stop the carnage and identify enemy

Calls for Cameroon to stop the carnage and go to the dialogue table have continuously increased. The most recent appeal calling on Cameroonians to stop fighting and killing each other and instead make an effort to identify the true enemy came from the Lord Mayor of Kumbo, Njong Donatus Fonyuy. He was speaking on Wednesday January 31, 2018 at Kikaikilaki within the Kumbo Municipality during a thanks giving and fund raising event organised by the family of His Eminence Cardinal Christian Tumi at Tsenla in Kikaikilaki.

Commenting immediately after a thanksgiving mass that was said by His Eminence Christian Cardinal Tumi, Mayor Njong Donatus Fonyuy said as the leader of people and of a community he had observed that everything was going extreme at both ends. “The population is extreme and the forces of Law and Order are extremists. Cameroonians are fighting among themselves and I am unable to identify the enemy. The only prayer and advice is that the two sides should exercise restrain so that we can sit down like children with one destiny and of one origin and talk. It is no longer the Cameroon that we used to know. It now looks like a completely different society. It is very disheartening and to be very honest with you, one will be unable to point out the aggressor because you find attacks and counter attacks from every angle. We don’t know the direction towards which we are going to. I just want to appeal that both sides should exercise restraint, put down their anger and their weapons and come together and talk like children of one family.”

On a brighter note he said he was indeed very elated by the fact that despite all, the Ngamantse family could still carve out time for a thanksgiving mass. Hear him. “It was a thanksgiving mass organised by Shufai Tsengla, the head of the Ngamantse Family to thank God for everything that took place here last year and to assemble the sons and daughters for their family meeting and to be able to mobilize resources to continue with the massive development project taking place at Tsengla. We could not stay behind and as the Mayor of the town I had to come to encourage them by participating and giving my own support financially and morally. I think the Ngamantse family is very lucky to have Shufai Tsengla as their leader. He is a dynamic and very likeable person. An added quality was the fact that His Eminence Cardinal Christian Tumi left Douala to personally preside at the Holy Mass. It is a sign that the Cardinal supports the development of Kikaikilaki.”

The satisfied and elated family Head; Shufai Tsenla Kikaikilaki said “as the Ngamantse family and as NGAMCUDA, we decided that as we are having a project in the compound we will be having this annual thanksgiving to make sure that the family unites and thanks God for what is happening and also raise funds so that together we can build this compound. This will serve as a uniting factor for the Ngamantse people and the unity of the Nso Land. I firstly want to thank God for what he is doing in my life as head of this family and this community. I will not be telling the truth if I say that my people are not showing me love. I will equally be untruthful if I say I do not feel comfortable being the leader of these people. What I see God doing through them despite the hard times that we are passing through is marvelous. The socio-political crises that we are passing through and the difficulties that families have at the moment make me to say that something marvelous is happening at Tsenla.”

The family head acknowledged that his people had suffered from lack of counseling in the past but that through him and the person he succeeded, the Ngamantse people had greatly improved. “This family” he said “is a very strong hand of the Paramount Fon of Nso. We want to think that as history holds as the elder brother to the Royal family, we will respect that position because our ancestors have never gone out of that position. Despite what people may say to disturb our heads, the Ngamantse family stands strong on that position.”
