Speaking on what
motivated him to start the Dewah Family Feast Day, he said he had a revelation
some eight years ago and decided to “set this day aside to sound a trumpet that
would be heard in heaven.” Since then he said, the family has been celebrating
every first day of November as Dewah Family Feast Day. “We have been
celebrating it at my Residential Home Palace in Bali Kumbat in the North West Region
but this time we have decided to celebrate it here in Kumba in the South West
Region in order to give thanks to God and to the Catholic population of Puletin Quarters
in Kumba who have chosen to build God’s House in my Residential Home Palace here in
Kumba. That’s the importance of this celebration here.”
Another
interesting revelation that he made was that preparations were
going on for the building of a Catholic Out Station Church in his Residential Home Palace in Kumba.
He however said that most of the preparations were still at the financial level
and that no visible activity was yet taking place on the ground.
Reverting to his
practice, Dr. Dewah said “I am close to 40 years in practice and in a few years
I will be celebrating my 40 years in practice. So far, I think I have already
left a legacy because at this present moment our tentacles are extended into
other countries like Gabon, Congo and in Nigeria now where we are struggling to
get documents to begin offering our services to needy people in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Everything is in
order.”
Harping on the obstacles
facing traditional medicine in Cameroon, he said they were enormous. He said
this was because all the various Departments of the Ministries had budgets
except the Department of Traditional Medicine in Cameroon. “We are as such left
on our own to struggle and make sure that we give Cameroonians satisfaction. The
population is assisting me and that’s why I have been succeeding all these
years.”
Considering the
fact that previous occasions of this nature had taken place in his Bali Kumbat
Palace he said the venue of the next occasion would be where his family decides
that they will celebrate. “The reason why we are celebrating this one here is
to raise funds for the construction of this mission station which the Catholic population of this community has given us. They have given us the honor that
it should be constructed in our residence.” Doctor Dewah used the occasion to emphasise
on the importance of family unity and called on each family to uphold qualities
of unity.
The occasion was
graced by a colourful Holy Mass and the guests who thronged the Kumba premises
came from far and near.
